Pet-rified

Being a Rottweiler, many people think Del is a tough little cookie. Being such a large, powerful dog, you'd think that he would ooze confidence and take anyone on.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Del has some strange fears that people can't believe when I tell them. Here are a few of the most bizarre:

  • Oven gloves
  • Salt and pepper mills.
  • Traffic cones.
  • Ironing boards.
  • Hoovers. 
  • Hair dryers.
  • Balloons. 



The MoneySupermarket Pet Insurance team asked a number of pet bloggers to tell them what their pet is scared of, with some funny results. They also asked bloggers to tell them what strange items their pets take a liking to. I think the strangest one is balloons!

    Oven gloves? Doesn't Del know that those can take out yummy things from the oven just for him. :)

    I can't think of anything right now that our dogs are scared of. When Storm was young she did not like vacuums, but I worked on socializing her to that. She also didn't care for carts and wheelchairs and such, but she got over that too.

      Yes, the oven glove is a strange one and very recent too. I'm really not sure where that has come from! Del hates the vacuum too, but he's recently starting to get more used to it :)

      Do your dogs like anything that's a bit strange? My friend Louise's dog, Harvey, loves balloons and always carries one around with him :)
